Hatchet Hoops Boys Tourney Recap - 2010 |
Hatchet Hoops and the Tomahawk Boys Basketball program hosted their annual 5th - 8th grade tournament on Saturday at the Tomahawk School Complex.
The Tomahawk 5th grade boys basketball team finished in first with place with the following results: Game One: Tomahawk 37 - Rhinelander 26,
Riley Tollison 13 points; Game Two: Tomahawk 25 -Lakeland 12, Riley Tollison 9 points; Game Three: Tomahawk 35 - Prentice 13, Justin Jarvensivu 11 points; Game Four: Tomahawk 34- Marathon 18, Justin Jarvensivu 14 points.
The Hatchet 5th graders finished with a perfect 4-0 record and claimed the championship over second place Rhinelander. The Tomahawk fifth graders played terrific team defense throughout the tourney. They finished their season with an overall record of 19-5.
The Tomahawk 8th grade boys basketball team also won the championship, with a 4-0 record. The game results follow: Game One: Tomahawk 50 - Elcho 15, Jared Jarvensivu, 15 points; Game Two: Tomahawk 48 - Phillips 34, Fletcher Schoone, 16 points; Game Three: Tomahawk 42 - Wittenberg-Birnamwood 22, Jared Jarvensivu 24 points; Game Four: Tomahawk 53 - Marathon 31, Jared Jarvensivu, 20 points.
The 8th grade claimed the championship over second place Wittenberg-Birnamwood. The Tomahawk eighth graders played solid team basketball throughout the tourney. The Hatchet Hoops eighth graders overall record now stands at 17-3. They will conclude their season next weekend at the Ladysmith Tournament.
The Hatchet Hoops 7th grade boys championship went to East Troy, with Phillips finishing second.
The Tomahawk 7th graders finished in third place. Tomahawk defeated Medford 29-21 and Lakeland 27-25. The 7th grade boys lost to Phillips and East Troy.
Lakeland’s 6th grade team won the Hatchet Hoops Boys Championship with a 4-0 record. Marathon was second. The Tomahawk 6th graders finished 1-3, with a victory over Crandon.

Hatchet Hoops 8th grade boys second at Lakeland Tourney |
On Saturday, 2/27/10, the Hatchet Hoops 8th grade boys basketball team concluded it's season with a thrilling come from behind victory over Fall Creek to win the championship of the Ladysmith Tournament.
In the opening game, Tomahawk defeated Eau Claire Regis by a score of 31-18, with a great defensive effort. In game two, the Hatchets defeated Eau Claire North 59-29, wtih Jared Jarvensivu scoring 17, Fletcher Schoone and Brandon Hull had 12 each.
In the seminfinals, Tomahawk scored a 45-32 win over Drummond. Chris Schoone had 13 and Lorne Ahrens had 12.
In the championship game, Tomahawk stormed back from a six point fourth quarter deficit to defeat Fall Creek 52-51. The Hatchets were led by Lorne Ahrens 22, with Jared Jarvensivu scoring 15.
The 8th graders finish the tournament season with an overall record of 21-3. |

Hatchet Hoops Boys Summer Basketball Camp |
Hatchet Hoops and the Tomahawk Hatchet Boys Basketball program will hold their 2010 Summer Basketball Camp in the Fieldhouse, Monday June 14 through Friday, June 18.
All boys, grades 2nd through 9th (2010-11 school year) are invited to participate. Boys in 2nd through 5th grade will have camp from 8:00 to 10:00 am and 6th through 9th grade boys will participate from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Tomahawk Girls Basketball Team begins post season play |
The Tomahawk Hatchet Varsity Girls Basketball Team begins post season play on Tuesday night, with a WIAA Regional Quarter Final game at Westfield.
The Pioneers are 19-2, and the #2 seed, while Tomahawk is 2-19 and the #7 seed.
The opening tip is at 7:00 pm, and 92-5, WJJQ will have the pregame show at 6:35 pm Tuesday night. |

| The Tomahawk 7th grade girls basketball team defeated Nativity Catholic School 39-11 on Thursday night in the season finale. |
The 8th grade girls basketball team also defeated Nativity Catholic School on Thursday night in their finale, 47-26.
Hannah Doughty had 14 points and Jessie Harmon added nine points. |
